Prudential has re-launched its Enhanced Annuity product.

Enhanced annuities benefit customers whose life expectancy is shorter than average by paying them a higher income. The increase in income depends on the customers' individual circumstances and could be anything between one per cent to 30 per cent higher than our standard annuity rate. 

The re-launch introduces a number of key improvements to the Prudential enhanced or ill heath annuity product:

• Prudential will now offer enhanced annuity rates on a wider range of medical and lifestyle conditions (e.g. raised blood pressure or cholesterol), making the product available to more customers
• Instead of the current 72-hour turnaround time it says it will now provide customer quotes within 24 hours of receiving the request
• Prudential has halved the minimum premium required for Enhanced Guaranteed Pension Annuities from £20,000 to £10,000

The enhanced annuity market has grown significantly over the last few years. Enhanced rates are available on both Prudential Guaranteed and With-Profits Pension Annuities.
